I’ve never been huge on pretzels, so when my dad was visiting and said that he’d make some chex mix and also some spicy pretzels, I told him that my mom can have the pretzels because she loves them, and I’d stick with the chex mix.
Well when they left, they left a bag of the pretzels. We were going trick or treat that night in our friends’ neighborhood, so I brought them over there as an appetizer. Well before leaving for trick or treat, I was getting hungry so I tried them. OMG. I can’t believe I almost missed out on the delicious-ness of this!! I actually ended up making another batch a couple of days later! You should definitely give this a try, it’s so simple… but I warn you, you become addicted easily!
(My dad got this recipe from the internet, and it says that it is submitted by Kevin Taylor, the BBQ Guru. So Kevin, thanks for sharing!)
1 (15-20 oz) pkg pretzels
1 cup vegetable oil
1 pkg ranch dressing mix, dry
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
Mix the oil, dressing, garlic and cayenne pepper together. Place pretzels in a roasting pan and pour the oil mixture on top. Toss to coat and bake 2 hours at 200 degrees. Stir a few times during cooking to continue coating well. It’ll be very wet when you start off, but it should all be absorbed during the cooking and be dry at the end!
