Dirt Cake

All while I was growing up, one of my favorite desserts was dirt cake.  I’d always request it for my birthday and my mom would always act like “oh so much work!”  Well you’re busted Mom, it’s not that hard (and I used her recipe)!  We had some friends over the other night for their birthday and I decided this would be something everyone pretty much likes.

This came together really fast.  My husband was watching a movie, so I stuck the cookies in a Ziploc bag and handed them to him and instructed him to crush them up.  The rest was easy-peasy.  You can either serve this in a trifle dish or a new/never been used for plants flower pot, like I did.

Dirt Cake

Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups milk
2 small boxes instant French vanilla pudding
1 can condensed milk (I used low-fat)
1/2 stick butter, softened
1- 8 oz. cream cheese (I used fat-free)
1- 12 oz. Cool Whip
1 large bag Oreo cookies

Method:
First, mix the cream cheese, butter and condensed milk.  Next stir in the milk and the vanilla pudding mixes.  Fold in the Cool Whip.  Crush the cookies fine and layer them in the bottom of what you’re going to serve it in.  Alternate layers of cookie and pudding mixture.  Finish with a layer of cookies on top.  You can top with fake flowers and gummy worms.  Keep refrigerated.

Big pot of dirt (cake) and worms!
