I was talking with my mom the other day about making taco seasoning. She saw a recipe in the New Orleans newspaper for it, and suggested I try making my own. Tacos were always one of my “lazy” foods. Buy a box kit and make it, voila. But I decided to give it a try just to see how easy it was. I perused a few different recipes online, basically seeing what the common denominators were, then set forth to make my own. I must say, it was pretty delicious! Christen’s Taco Seasoning
Ingredients:
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp dehydrated chopped onion
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp ground oregano
1 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp dried cilantro
1/2 tsp creole seasoning
1 tsp flour
1.5 tsp cumin
few shakes of black pepper
Method:
Mix well. Brown ground beef then drain the fat off. Add these seasonings (3 tbsp which is approximately what this makes) with 2/3 cup water. Simmer over low heat 5-10 minutes.
